Nice pictures. I didn't realize till after I got off that I hadn't taken a single screenshot.

I especially like the one of me shooting up into the air. And Mantlet gazing at the storm palace in the distance is very forbodeing.

I also like the one with Orleans blasting. It's a real good angle for an action shot. I think I might have some slightly better screenshots of the three of us by the wormhole...but the angle will definitely be worse. I'll put it in a separate post.

I was inspired last night to snap a lot of shots, as it was a new area and we hadn't taken any in-game shots for a while. I was reading a post on the forums, and one person's signature said something to the effect that "If it's worth doing, it's worth saving. Hit PrintScreen."

I have gotten better at setting up shots in-game, as I try and arrange the action off to one side or the other. What happens is that when I crop and resize the resulting screenshots, I can do so such that Mantlet is not dead-center in the photo. It makes for much better composed and varied screenshots.

Something else I do is take a ton of screenshots when I want to capture a shot, something like 5-8 in quick succession. I then pick and choose the best shots to crop and edit. That's been working out well, as some of our mid-fight poses are pretty goofy looking.

I have to say, the shot with Orleans blasting up in the air is a great one. It has a vertical element missing from most of our fights. The glow from the shots that he and the Observer are exchanging also overlap for a very comic-book kind of feel. Mantlet looks a little goofy, but that's a classic super-strength animation while flying to execute an overhand smash. You don't see the animation while on the ground, it's unique to combat while flying.

My favorite though is the one with Mantlet looking off into the distance at the Storm Palace rising over the rocks. Dumb luck, but I don't think I could have picked a better composition. The pose Mantlet has, the sharpness of the rocks in the foreground contrasts nicely with the distant "fuzzy" outline of the black palace in the distance. The rounded rocks versus the angularity and sharp protrusions from the Palace, all are excellent and add to the feeling of impending action. It's like a scene in a movie where the action pauses for a moment prior to frenetic activity. This shot seems to capture that feeling, like a moment frozen in time. It's great.

And it's my new desktop wallpaper at work. I never thought I'd get a shot that beautiful out of CoH...
