Apotheosis Character Backgrounds

This will be a post just for us to collect the character descriptions from our many toons in one place.

I guess we should do one toon per comment. We know them, but if ever others join our sad little addiction, it will help catch them up. Character name first, followed by class, you may put power set types if you like, and then the text from our in-game I.D. Cards description fields. If you're into it, each person should post his own.

CACAPHONY
SONIC TECHNOLOGY DEFENDER

Struck forever deaf by the terrorist IED that murdered his family, a five year old Jackson O’Dunder struggled not only with the massive emotional hurt, but also with the inability to properly verbalize sounds, a facet of his hearing impairment that made even talking things through impossible. Two decades later, beneath improvised, ceremonial armor representing his father’s clan and a mass of bio-customized, Alpine implants, Jackson sang tributes over his parents’ graves. Though loud and clear, his music could only escape his very own ears as he and his VOX passionately intoned the new clan tale of the defender.

MANTLET
INVULNERABILITY/SUPER STRENGTH
MAGIC TANK

Former archaeology professor Horace Parker stumbled across the find of his careet while researching pagan cult ruins in northern France. A granite coffin unearthed from the site yeilded an almost perfectly preserved suit of what he presumed to be ceremonial armor. His erroneous assumption became hideously clear while running metallurgical tests on the artifact. Awakened from centuries of slumber, the demonic plate siezed his soul. Horace has travelled to Paragon City seeking a means to lift this curse...

FJORDBOTTEN
SCIENCE BLASTER
ICE BLAST / ICE MANIPULATION

Battle Cry: "You Shall Not Pass!"

Assigned to study the possible animation of particles at absolute zero, Dr. Finnias Evanstaat was stationed at Kelvin Labs, a Japanese-Russo joint financial venture in the form of a 4 foot bubble in one of the coldest places on Earth…the bottom of a Norwegian fjord. Chosen as much for his genius as for his height, the doctor wound up being the sole occupant of Kelvin Labs Habitat 9 for the better part of a decade before succeeding not only at animating subatomic particles at zero Kelvin, but also at achieving temperatures far below the absolute. His research was set to turn the science of deep space survival on end. Unbeknownst to Finnias, however, a simultaneous project was taking place on the surface, an attempt at understanding time travel by teleporting particles from the past into a contained state in the present. Finnias had no way of knowing the particle he chose to animate that day had belonged to the previous ice age.

THE MARZIPAN FRITTER

NATURAL EARTH CONTROLLER with TRICK ARROW

Battle Cry: "I'm Back!"

Little Billy Sawyer was rushed to the hospital after collapsing in the public lobby of City Hall. It was found that among the many aggravated conditions from which he suffered was acute meningitis. Doctors on staff, though the best in the country, were clueless. The boy’s varied biological hardships, combined with stresses against which he should not have triumphed, were creating a chain necrosis effect, a cyclical overlap of disease on disease. Only an overworked nurse could sit with him and wait. She fed the boy ice chips, told him stories, admired the crayon drawings of super heroes from his jeans pocket, all of little comfort. He couldn’t speak, barely conscious, but he summoned a last ounce of stray, determined energy to nod slightly as she offered him an almond, maple treat. She placed it in his mouth as would a mother touching a baby aspirin to her child’s tongue, just as Billy Sawyer died.

LAMDA

MUTATION GRAVITY CONTROLLER and STORM SUMMONER

Battle Cry: "Collapse!"

The first human born in space, on International Space Station Gamma, Tali Newtonson failed to develop musculature suitable to a planetary existence. Spending her life in pursuit of becoming a groundling, she found no technologies that would be prudent in the long term. As it turned out, she was searching in the wrong place. Dr. Nikkos Mermadin of Greece, in an attempt to seek out new preventative measures against Rikti portals, developed a gravitation pulse he hoped would do the trick. Though initial tests were not fruitive, the doctor had no way of knowing that his pulse, unleashed into the atmosphere, and yes, the very solar system that surrounds us, had triggered dormant mutant genes in the wholly singular prodigy, Tali. In an excruciating display aboard her lonely satellitic home, her blood began coursing with a fibrous density, her veins crystallizing, and at once the black hole that was her heart became the power of the black hole that was her destiny.
